Time Wizard Dimension

Allows us to define/generate a time dimension without any underlying data table. Note that the member keys of this dimension are of type date.

Example

We want to generate a time dimension with a single hierarchy. The hierarchy will begin on January 1st, 2000 and end on January 1st, 2003. We will include year and quarter levels.

1) First we create our dimension and create the hierarchy with our two levels:

OLAP Parent/Child hierarchy

2) And this is all we need to do to define our time dimension. We can now check the results on the dimension browser:

OLAP Parent/Child hierarchy

Next chapter: Schema Factories is describing the concept of schema/cube factory.
